FREEDOM MUSIC FEST

Freedom Music Fest this past fall was a tremendous success! We had six bands perform, covering the Christian, Rock, Indie, and Country scene, from talent from around our university, city, and state! We raised more than three times the donations from our last event. We were additionally fortunate to have KVR News and Daily Texan cover our event

DANCE ACROSS THE GLOBE...

Below is the video featured in the Dance Across the Globe event. Please watch and spread the word!

Stephen Romero, one of our newest members, convinced his family to donate enough to cover full scholarships for 20 students at the Highway Academy, the parner school of the Students for Wema orphanage. His, and his family's kindness are truly a blessing to the orphanage, us, and the founders of the organization, Teresa and Stephen Wati. In Teresa's own words, "May God bless them."

On April 9 Chelsea Handler announced on her show, Chelsea Lately that she won $5,000 betting on the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament.  Not wanting to hold on to the money, she asked her audience to email her with an interesting cause and she would donate it to support that cause. Alex Breinen from Harvard met Chelsea last month in New York City, and when he told her about a school and orphanage in Kenya that he helps support, feeling an instant connection, having just published her latest book, Uganda Be Kidding Me, she introduced Alex to her assistant to provide more details. She later agreed to fund ten scholarships at Wema Children's Centre next year.  The following day, Alex received this response, "I forwarded your email to Chelsea and she said she would like to send the $5,000 to help these kids!!!" Chelsea's selflessness will change the lives of ten Wema students, helping to uplift their community.
